Mast base replacement question

Post subject:  Mast base replacement question

The hole for the mast step kit is broke off, it looks like cast iron, can i have the piece welded back on, i still have it, or is it very difficult to put a new mast bottom on, i have a spare, , it looks like pop rivets hold it to the mast,

Hey Dennis, The base is cast aluminum, and doesn't weld very well. You're better off replacing it.

Drill the rivets with a 3/16" bit and pop new rivets.
