Post subject:  Dolphin striker- how tight?

This summer one of our 16's front crossmembers because one of the nuts on the dolphin striker was missing, when i replaced the crossmember i made sure to put both nuts on but i still dont know how much to tighten them, any help?

obviously the dolphin striker must be fairly tight in order to minimize hull movement, but can it be overtightened, short of cracking the castings? any help would be greatly appreciated.

You want it tight enough to go "thummm" when you hit it with your hand.

If it "clanks," it's not tight enough.

If you're using a regular 8" long crescent wrench, it's tough to get it too tight, unless you're a gorilla.
