OK, having had an H16 for three years now, I feel a little stupid asking this, but . . . I had always had two jib sheets (or rather one piece of rope tied with a cow hitch in the bight through the clew of the jib, with two bitter ends). I led each jib sheet through a jib traveler on the front crossbar, and then through the cam cleat. Over the weekend I saw a much more complicated looking arrangement in which the sheet was reeved back and forth between the two travelers and a set of sheaves. The sheaves are attached to the clew of the jib. The two jib sheets end up as a single loop sitting on the tramp. Is this the way a jib sheet is supposed to be reeved? Does anyone have a diagram? How long should a jib sheet be to reeve it in such a way? Thanks, and apologies if this is stupid. Paris. |

yes. stock goes: tie off on the jib traveler. go from that to the clew of the jib, around the block, then through the traveler.....back through the other side traveler, around the block on the jib, and tie off on the same traveler. that way its in a loop. |

But can someone confirm that the reeving of the jib sheet is still the same as in this diagram? Also, I'm still wondering how long a jib sheet needs to be when rigged this way. -Paris. |

That's not a rigging diagram for a jib sheet - it's for the TrenTec traveller car control lines (which you don't have). Jib sheet should be about 32' long. |

Sweet! I just replaced the jib sheet on my boat using the "loop on the tramp" method by playing "follow the leader" with the new line following the old line. Glad you guys posted the pictures so I can understand it a little better! |
