Post subject:  Hull Restoration... Separation?

I've got a 1982 16' Hobie that's been sitting on a beach baking in the sun for some time. The hulls have soft spots (especially on the decks) and some cracks here and there.

I took it to a fiberglass guy who is reccommending removing the top decks from the hulls to reinforce them with fiberglass on the inside and underneath the top of the decks.

IS THIS RECCOMMENDED? and if so, what's the best way to go about it?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

see if that link helps, I do not think taking the boat apart is the best bet, would all a lot of weight I believe. Normally if the sides go soft too we use them for decoration or take them on there final sail to the land fill. Good luck met me know if you need anything!

Thanks,
