Has anyone purchased a new trampoline from Earl Dame in Florida? I have contacted him to build one for me. The pictures look OK but it would be nice to have a recomendation. Regards, Joe |

The price for a Class Legal Hobie trampoline for the Hobie 16 is as low as $295.00. The standard Hobie trampolines are Vinyl and heat welded for a much longer life, not sewn. I just bought a hobie 16 with a new replacement tramp from Earl Dame. I am installing it today. It looks decent, looks to be heat welded, rather than sewn...The grommets are not in a straight line, but more wavy...I don't know anything more yet, and this is our first cat. I'll keep you posted! How much are they worth? Does anyone have directions for tightening them properly? Thanks. |

How much are they worth? I paid $212 including shipping for the trampoline. I figured it was as good a deal as I would get on a new tramp. I don't trust used tramps or other sewn, welded parts. I did see another post on this board that detailed tightening the tramp lacings. Thanks for your response, Joe |

The tramp is pretty good so far, aside from some RAPID fading of the blue straps. Without a tarp covering the tramp, the straps faded quite significantly in three days! The tramp seems to be fairing well otherwise. I've retightened it once, but we hadn't tightened it very well to begin with. I imagine it's a good compromise if you don't want to shell out the major dollars for an OEM tramp.

I finally received the Tramp from Earl Dame. Heat walded, Blue foot straps. Looks just like he promised. Will be putting it on next week. The boat is at the shore house in Ocean Beach III NJ. I only live about 15 miles from the shore house but with kids and a job its hard to find the time to play. Any suggestions on installation/tightening? If we could post pictures on this site I would do a pictorial of the installation. If anyone is interested let me know. Maybe I could email it to you. Joe. |

When someone post that the hiking straps faded significantly in just three days, that might be a good sign that the cheap deal is not really a deal at all. That the grommets are not lined up, another sign of a poorly made product. I have seen a lot of after market products that claim to save you a few bucks, but one thing has alway held true. Hobie uses the best materials and the products are made to last. Spend a couple more bucks and buy the real thing. You won't regret it. |

I have bought my fair share of hobies and all have been 15-20 years old when I bought them. The tramps were all original. I sewed them for at least three seasons more before I replaced them. 20+ years is not bad for a $290 investment. And, these tramps were left outside, uncovered for most of their lives. |

Matt, I agree that $295 is reasonable for an original equipment trampoline. But I called the local Hobie dealer and got pricing for an 18' tramp. $468. I think that is a bit steep. |

DougHobie17, without center lacing, how do you tighten the tramp? I understand the tramp is integral to the rigidity of the boat. |
