Took my daughter wakeboarding behind the boat yesterday. Anything just to get em out there! Anybody done this already? Where is the best place to attach the rope: upwind pontoon or downwind pontoon? Anyway, it was a blast! [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpBfQjUsLcc[/youtube] |

Maximus - We're from San Diego. About 20-25 yrs. ago we took our H16 up to Lopez Lake. On the way we stopped at the pier in Santa Barbara for breakfast. The kids found the front end of a broken surfboard on the beach. We took it with us. I punched a hole in the front end and tied a long rope through it. The kids took turns on this "wakeboard" towed behind our Hobie and they had a blast! My wife held the rope while I sailed the boat. It was hard, but Lopez Lake is fairly small and therefore a lot of tacking. You might consider tieing the rope to the rear block hanger of your boom if you can get some long runs in. It'll keep the rope up higher; away from your rudders as your kids manuver the wakeboard back and forth. A few years later we pulled the kids around in a kayak behind our H16. I never thought of that and attaching the line to the boom, I would be afraid to damage the block hanger. Anyway, this is a fun idea and other tried it like on this extreme sailing video at 1'05 : http://www.metacafe.com/watch/711230/extreme_sailing/ |

I wouldn't attach it to the boom.. you are going to lose the ability to control the sail properly that way... My plan is a "bridle" b/t either the rear corner casting area or the rear pylons... But the best I have done so far is pulled my dad in on his sailboard and pulled a tube around for a while... |

I'd do a simple bridle to the front corner castings, maybe tie a line between the two rear corner castings just to hold it up and maybe keep it from going under a rudder. I think that would be the least likely to interfere with anything. |

Good Morning from the North, there is a video on Utube of a a hobie pulling a kid on skis. if you find it you might see how it was attached. A rope from post to post with a half hitch in the middle would work. If you have a righting rope you could just use it, at least until you stuuf it!!
