Post subject: | Easy Rite system tips |
I just purchased the Easy Rite righting system. It's basically a giant bungee which ties onto the rudder pins, and wraps around the front of the boat, traveling outside the pylons but inside the shrouds. I'm wondering if instead of tying the ends around the rudder pins, there is something less thick, like a metal ring or something that I could put around the rudder pins, then tie the bungee onto that. Has anyone done this? If so, can you link to a part that you used for the job? Also, when you capsize, how do you get hold of the Easy Rite at the top hull? Do you stand on the lower hull to grab it? Or are you supposed to rig up some kind of pull cord between the two sides so that you can pull it down? Would appreciate any tips. Paris. |

Mine is similar to yours but it doesn't attach all the way back to the rudder pins. Mine consists of a bungie cord inside a tubular piece of webbing and attaches to each rear pylon after wrapping around both front pylons. The bungie keeps it snug to the pylons. When capsized and standing on the lower hull you just reach up between the upper airborne hull and the trap frame, pull it down and lean out away from the boat. |

I made a small loop out of rope around the rudder pins then tied the Easy rite to it, that way there is nothing metal to damage the hull and if the small loop of rope gets worn its easy to replace . Just climb on the hull in the water reach up and grab the easy rite line and slowly lean back till it gets tite.....Jay |
