Post subject:  slight bend in mast

I have a 77 16' with an aluminum mast and single pully top (old style). The mast has a slight bend when laying on the ground, probably about 3" off straight. When sailing, I can really tell the difference between the port and starboard tacks, since one gets a convex shape and the other concave, and it interferes a little with the mast rotation. To add to matters, the leeward hull on the concave tack is a little heavier and takes on a little water, making that side prone to capsizing.

Other than the aforementioned issues that I am satisfied to sail through, any other dangers with the bend in the mast? It was that way when I rescued the boat . . .

my mast has a slight bend in it too, and i don't think it is more dangerous than if it were straight, the only thing i found is it affects the sailing a little
