Post subject:  Hobie mesh tramp colors.

I'm currently restoring an '82 H16 and want to buy a new mesh tramp. When I finished restoring my '73 H16 I bought a cheap white trampoline and I am very disappointed with it. (pulling out of the corners, stretch marks...) My wife will be sailing the light blue '82 and wants the trampoline to match the hulls and her Tequila sunrise sails. (What is it with women and matching colors?...anyways) I have looked all over the web and cannot find pictures of the Hobie mesh trampoline colors available. Can anyone help? A picture showing the four colors of mesh tramps fanned out would be awesome! (or is that too much to ask for?) I can't believe Hobie doesn't have that in their catalogs.

Check out the site below. Scroll to the bottom and you will see color circles indicating the color of all the trampolines currently available from Hobie. Not sure how accurate the color representaion is, but they are relatively close.

This is from Surf City Cats site. It will give you a little idea also with the exception of the gray mesh which is not shown in this photo.

Don't buy the Hobie gray colored tramp!

The one on my 2008 H-16 completely changed color in 18 months of being stored outside in the sun. It turned to a dirt brown color.

I contacted the Hobie Dealer who forwarded the issue (with pcitures) to the factory and asked if I could trade the tramp in and purchase a new, different color Hobie tramp at a discount. The response from Hobie was that it should not have been stored in the sun - no discount on a new tramp.

This is my fourth H-16. I have had tramps fade, but never change color.

Disappointing, but I still love my H-16. It is a joy to sail.

Seriously?? Hobie told you not to put your boat in the sun? LOL!! I'm going back to review my owners manual and see where it says to sail only at night.

My 1990 H16 came from the factory with a grey mesh trampoline. It lasted 20 years and never changed to brown, but finally split earlier this year and I replaced with black for a change of look.

Ya it is strange in turned to brown. It is stored on cement in a clean environment.
Pic below shows the gray in the sail that should match the tramp.

I've never seen that before. Its probably iron from pollution, and not the tramp actually "changing colors".

I agree with Jeremy. Air pollution does funny things to outdoor fabrics. If you're going to store the boat outdoors, use a tramp cover. It's more than just protection from the sun.

FWIW, I had the same thing happen to a blue tramp on my 14 that was stored outside for a couple of summers - underneath an old tan fabric cover. Barkeeper's Friend took most of it off.
