I'm just about to start restoring the hulls (exciting), so all that's left is to acquire a few more parts. In the mean time, I was given a pair of beat up sails. I'm not a big fan of the colors (or stains for that matter), but they were free so I'll use em' for now. There is a place here in Buffalo that will custom make sails however I want for around $1600 (pirate skull and crossbones and all!). I'm planning on having a set made up after next year. My question is: How can I find out what the original sail numbers were for this boat? The original sails are long gone. Is this something I can find out from the serial numbers? I know I don't need to have the original numbers, but I would like to - just because. |

There's no way to tie the original sail number to the serial number on the boat. You can get in the ballpark with the manufacturing date on the serial number (within a couple thousand), but that's about it. Just pick a number. |
