Post subject: | Running Rigging and Sheets |
I'm looking to replace the running rigging and sheets on my Hobie 16 this winter. The ones I have now are super old. I've found the recommended diameters and sizes on the IHCA website. My question to the board is what's do I really need? What's the difference between single braid and double braid, spun braid? I don't really want to be spending $2.50 a foot for my sheets, but I also don't want something that is poor quality that won't last. Are there lines that I can use less expensive material (I was thinking of the main halyard and tramp lacing). Does anyone know what the working strength of these lines should be, i.e. I don't want my Wal-Mart halyard snapping on me while I'm trying to raise the main? Where do you guys get you lines from? Westmarine seems to always be super expensive. Thanks in advance for all your help, Adam |

You can find cheaper prices on the high end, latest and greatest stuff, by searching for line tails (end of reels) at Layline and Annapolis Performance Sailing. |

These guys seem to have a fair selection of line at what seems to be a fair price http://mauriprosailing.com/index.html |
