Post subject: | Tramp frame removal |
I have a 1997 16. I have to remove the tramp frame from the the hulls and replace the front crossarm. We gave it a try today, but it wasn't possible to pull the crossarms, siderails or hull pylons from the castings. Any experience out there with this? Thanks in advance. |

When i pulled the frame of a hobie apart this summer it seems like the crossarms were riveted to the crossarm pretty well, but the rails just sit in there between the castings with no attachment at all. the castings could have corroded to the pylons in which case a RUBBER mallet may come in handy, just dont crack the castings. it is also possible that the attachment between the castings and the hull pylon may have been epoxied at some point, which is pretty much permenat, if you just have to get the frame off of the hulls and the castings are epoxied I guess the only way to do it would be to carefully break the castings into smaller peices and find new ones when you get ready to put the boat back together, a very expensive soloution. Hope this helps.[/b] |
