Hi everyone - been lurking since May when I started looking for a boat finally. Thanks one and all for the great info here on the forum. It helped me decide on a newer boat for my return to sailing after a 20 year absence. This is my boat that I picked up about a month ago. It's a 2010 that was one of 18 supplied for the juniors in Brazil apparently. Republic of South Africa boat? ![]() The original ad: http://edmonton.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicl ... Z222108881 If it ever warms up here in Calgary, I just might be able to coordinate a babysitter with some wind! |

That's very nice, congrats. The ad says it came with some of the most desireable add-ons. You should enjoy that for a very long time. |

I was originally looking for a boat no older than 2000 and had a 2005 lined up but it didn't have a trailer. Original budget was around 7k for boat&trailer. While looking for the trailer, this ad was just posted. I figured hey, closer for pickup, comes with all the gear I'd want/need, and has some history. Yup, came with the spinnaker and kitchen sink! Only flown spins on my old Fireball so this will be something to try out. RSA came in 4th in the '09 Youths. |

Good to be here ![]() I'm figuring on Glenmore Reservoir and Lake Windermere. I'm ten minutes from the launches at Glenmore and about three hours from Winderemere, towing. It just seemed natural, with all the wind here in Calgary all the time. And Windermere...it's all in the name...where I spent summers sailing. How about you? |

This summer I went to the Glenmore resevoir a few times. I'm hoping to squeeze in one more weekend of (cold) sailing. ![]() |

You'll have your wish if you're going this weekend! Today would be the day to go at 22c if you could manage it. Then again, next week could be just fine too. |

Hey thnx - you have a 2010 too I see. The trailer is a Carnai. http://www.carnai.com/Specialty.html They don't have it listed but give them a call it says. The trailer I have is what they're recommending for H16's. If you need me to get you the exact model number let me know and I'll post it. It's pretty decent and I towed at about 140km/h at times no issue. |

DarekR wrote: Hey thnx - you have a 2010 too I see. Ya the background is 'bout 20 yrs ago I bought a Bombardier 4.8 to knock around with at the family cottage. Sailed it for ~ 10yrs then stored it as a growing family seemed to demand more time. This past summer I decided to put it back in the water and teach the kids how to sail. Well the years spent turtled were not kind to it as the rubber bits had hardened, centerboard rotted, the jib's leech had torn and the mice chewed a hole in my spinnaker. So off I truck it to Quiet Waters Sailboats in Waubaushene and they say they'll make it like new for $700. Turns out they are also a Hobie dealer as well and since I always wanted a Hobie - budda boom budda bing - I traded the Bombardier in on a new cat ! So now I'm surfing the web trying to learn as much about this boat as I can, because like you I'm in Canada and the boat is put away for the winter... |

Hey, that sounds a lot like my history. Family lake house in Invermere with a Fireball 18' sailboat. Moved to Vanouver and sailed H16's from Jericho Sailing Centre. Busy with life then kids. Now it's time to start sailing again and teach the next generation! |
