I can think of quite a few things more embarrassing than that. One recent event comes to mind...pushing off the rail thinking that I was hooked up to the wire...you can guess the rest.

i was solo trapping the other day under perfect conditions. The one issue I had was keeping control of the mainsheet. It was either falling away on the tramp or going into the water constantly. Any advice on keeping this from happening? Thanks, Todd |

I have laced about a third of the main thru the lacing of the tramp, enough to stay put, enough to have on trap. leave it loose incase of going over, by then, in your pretty much of a scramble to keep it from flippin anyway. |

I keep the main in my forward hand and then loop it back to the tiller hand for a backup in case I drop it. I also like to wedge the extra between my front foot and the trap bungee on the rail, this seems to keep it under control a bit more. If the excess portion of the sheet falls overboard, try pulling it back with the forward hand while looping it into your tiller hand. Once all the sheet is back on board, toss the loops back onto the deck, usually towards the mast a bit to reduce it's tendency to slide off the back. Good luck! |

great advice thank you! Nothing more embarassing than dragging 20 feet of mainsheet while fully stretched out on the wire. |
