Yesterday pulled the boat the two miles down to the ramp for a quick sail in the evening. Just prior to stepping the mast I did a quick check of the shrouds and connections on the mast tang. The right shroud was fraying at the crimp! I was bummed to have to pack everything up and not sail, but real happy I happened to spot the fray prior to all the calamity it could have caused. My local sail maker/repair guy built me another one today. Hoping for Git Rot in the mail tomorrow so I can fix my delam spot. Have any of you trolled with a 16(for fish, not women ![]() |

Maximus - I have trolled for fish on my H16. We caught a lot of bonita and some barracuda. It was fun, but I think the fishing would've been more fun on an open boat (fishing boat or even a sit-on-top kayak). You make too many compromises when you fish from a H16 with sails; boom; slimy, scaley fish on your tramp; etc., or when you sail with fishing gear on your tramp. I think it would be better to sail one day and fish from another boat the next day. As I said-We had fun! I hope you'll try it at least once and form your own opinion. Good luck! |
