I am looking at a 1994 H16 that is in good shape with a trailer. The main has been repaired due to someone falling through it and the jib is a jib off an H18 that was trimmed down to fit and includes a roller furling. Tramp is good and the hulls are solid. I can get it for $1600, whats your thoughts. buy it or leave it.

If that's the one w 4 inspection ports, I'd offer lower or pass.

If it's a solid boat with no surprises, that's a smokin deal in my opinion. Especially if it comes with a good trailer.

Its in Pensacola Fl and he said it does have 4 ports. Why do you say that?

Ports are not good for structural integrity and they are a sign that repair work was done. Depending on the location of the ports you should walk away. If they are forward of the front pylons, forget it. Ports aft of the the rear pylons are okay.

the ad says a 1996....
the ports could be an issue... ask why he put them in.. and look for soft spot areas that might have been fixed.... and walk if the boat was ever painted....
and again make sure of the year....

They are in front of the pylons and yes it has recently had the hulls gel coated. He says the front ports are stuck also so they would have to be replaced he said. By stuck he probably means glued to hide repairs. The ad states a 96 but he said it was a typo. I guess I should walk away.

Definately walk away. This one has had a bad history I think. There are too many out there to buy someone elses problem.

I was interested in buying it until I checked it out. 94 hulls w portholes infront of front pylons and behind rears, 80's tequila sunrise sail, h18 jib. No va.

Good decision not to buy. I'm sure you want a boat that will last you a long time and be reliable. I seriously doubt you would have been happy with that one.
