What is its purpose? Should I have one on mine? Thanks. |

A tramp between the bows on a hobie 16? I'm pretty sure that would turn the H16 into a non-stop pitchpole machine. |

sailthis wrote: What is its purpose? Should I have one on mine? Thanks. Not necessary or available for a Hobie 16. A bow spreader holds the bows apart at a fixed width. The design of some cats causes the forestay load on bridles to pull bows together. Instead of adding structure to the bows... a spreader is added. This is common when the bridle angle is very low... so a jib tack can be lower. |
