As far as I know, Hobie does not offer them (at least for the 16), and they are class legal. What, did you come into an inheritance lately? First carbon tillers, now roller-swaged shrouds? Damn, it's not even November and you've already got cabin fever. It's going to be a long winter. ![]() |

Winter can't come soon enough, both Hobie and Laser are tucked away and the Ice boat is out and ready to go.First regatta of the year is here in Thunder bay at the end of November.Hoping to meet up with your buddy Bruce Williams again. As for the hydraulic swaged eyes they are only $39.Matt you are starting to sound like my wife, she says the way I spend money I am going to have to work till I am 90. ![]() |

Answered my own question, really only needed on boats sailed in salt water.Other wise standard shroud good enough.Next question the new 2009 lengths of 18'-1/4" for shrouds and 18'-9 3/4" for forstay, does this set up still need a double chain plate on bow? |

thought the bridles got longer in 2009 or 2010 as well? IIRC, the Aussies pushed for it? |

mmadge wrote: really only needed on boats sailed in salt water.Other wise standard shroud good enough. Why would it matter if the boat is sailed in salt water? The swaged eye should be stronger than a standard thimble because you're not forcing the wire to bend around a curve. But either way the fitting at the top of the shroud has to be a thimble in order to fit over the mast tang shackle, so a minimum of one thimble per shroud is required regardless. I'm not really sure why Hobie chose to use the swaged eyes on some boats but not others. The swaged eyes look a little nicer, but they all get covered up by the shroud adjuster boot anyway. sm |

I like them just so you don't have to tape up the thimble. Those wires hanging out are skin/sail rippers. |

They are both done with Hydraulics here at Hobie, so maybe Murrays uses a hand swage tool for the standard ones? Never heard of one being better than the other in salt water either. |
