Post subject:  Question on availability and price of used mast

I have an opportunitiy to pick up a really nice 1990 16 that has a broken mast. Does anyone know roughly what i should expect to pay for a used mast in decent condition? Even better, does anyone know of one available in the South East? NC, SC. GA, VA etc.

Thanks folks

There is a Hobie 16 mast on e-bay for $260. I think it was in Florida.

I am parting out a H16 and asking $100 for mine. Unfortunately I live in Arizona.

I bought a boat in VA with a bent aluminum mast, and was able to pick up a replacement in good condition in MD from craigslist. I paid $100 or $125.

If someone is selling a boat with a busted hull or something, you could always offer to take just the mast off their hands.

Price will likely depend on comp-tip (class legal and stock for your vintage) or not. If you can wait a little, try Dan Berger in VA Beach (or Norfolk?) VA. he vends lots of used parts and usually brings a load to the Spring Fever Regatta on Lake Hartwell on Easter weekend.

Man, my name comes up on here all the time!

I do have some good masts and I'm in Norfolk, Va now. I think I still have a good one with a comptip, but I know I have a good solid black one. It may not look as new as a 1990 mast, but it is in good shape--and more important, straight.

You can get deals every now and then on Craigs, so that is a good place to start. You will more than likely get an older one like the ones I always get. Shipping is ridiculous.

You can email me at danberger at mindspring dot com if you want to discuss further.

I have an extra H 16 mast I would be willing to let go for $125 down here in FL.
