I flipped my new to me hobie over to check out the bottoms and this is what I see. To my untrained eye it looks like the keels have been reinforced. There are no soft areas, so I was thinking about simply adding some resin to the edges where there is cracking.

Any thoughts on this would be v much appreciated especially if there is a consensus that there is a problem with this. The boat is a 1990

It's a bottom job going bad.

Yeah, you can brush some resin on the edges and it'll look OK for a while. Until it cracks again. Which probably won't be long.

Or, you can take a disk sander, knock off the loose, old bottom job and re-do it right. It's a weekend job if the weather's decent. If you're really good with fiberglass, you can do it in a day - including shooting it with gel.

Thanks Mbounds :) I am terrible with glass work - will put some resin in for now and then get the bottoms done right later this year.

Does anyone know of a good aticle that will show me how to redo this bottom job and do it right?
