Post subject:  Looking for Hobie 16 Bridles - smooth
I sold my Hobie 14 which the previous owner had purchased new standing rigging for and I loved it. The bridles for that boat had the swaged cable by the eye and the whole swage was covered with a clear plastic. It was smooth and left nothing to tangle or get caught on.

I'm looking for this same kind of quality in the replacement bridle for my 1990 Hobie 16. I'm adding a spinnaker and I want to replace my old bridle as it has cracks in the plastic cover and the cover is all chewed up. Anyone know if the Hobie original equipment incorporates the sealed plastic over the swaged connector?

If not, who sells them like this?

Both of these sites sell plastic coated bridles in 1/8" or the more heavy duty 5/32"
The both offer either black or white plastic coating

I've never seen the plastic coating over the swage but imagine you could wrap some color matched electrical tape or something like that around the swage to make them smooth.

None of the cables that I've ever seen had a coating over the nicopress fitting. It would not be a Hobie OEM thing, but definintely something you could do yourself. I would suggest you check out McMaster Carr (www.mcmaster.com) and do a search for "heat shrink tubing." The heat shrink tubing they have installs with a heat gun and should work nicely.

Ebay has them on there, you might should take a look there first. Its a way to save you money and most of the time they have white and black.

I have done this on my stuff and it looks great, you can get it in all colors and at lowes. Can heat with a hairdryer, lighter, heatgun, really anything that gets hot but again this works great.

I'd be nervous that salt water would still get within nicropress connection and couldn't rinse it to prevent corrosion within. Just my thought on it
