Post subject:  soft spot repair with 2 part foam.

looking at repairing very large soft spot on top of hull on H16, lots of info on how to repair, has anyone tried to use the 2 part marine expanding foam ? it's water proof, dries hard, but has a very short working time. I thought about installing ports, scooping out old foam, pour foam in steps & tilting boat to flow before expanding. Does not sound hard,,

Post subject:  Expanding foam?

I think expanding foam would not reach the extremes of the delamination and would expand too much forcing the deck and inner layer apart.

The "Git Rot" resin is a penetrating resin, so it gets back into the edges of the delamination. By not squirting it too much resin, you avoid forcing the glass layers apart and damaging the original structure.

See the FAQ section of the sailing forum for details on the repair.
