I recently bought a tub of old Hobie 18 stuff from a guy(Needed the trap vests) which included the jib cars/travelers. My question is, is there any advantage to replacing my current jib cars( the type that has the jam cleats built into the car/traveler assembly), with the type that is very similiar except it has a large stainless steel wheel built in. There in a thumb roller to allow unidirection, or freewheeling. Thanks. I'll post some pics later.

H18 jib cars? Do you have a 16? The cars are very different.

Here is what I have on my 16http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5188/5574555692_bfdf42909f_b.jpg

And here is what supposedly came off an 18, which looks like a deluxe version of the other one.http://www.flickr.com/photos/40364088@N03/5574554834/in/photostream/
What do you think?

Same question... do you have a 16 or is it an 18?

The H18 cars will not work well on a 16, too tall.

I have a 16, which I bought a few weeks ago. The traveler system is different than on my previous 16. Previous boat, which I still have, has the separate inboard jam cleats. I wonder if someone modified this "new" boat?

The 18 cars in your pic won't well on your 16.
