This is my first jaunt into the cat life style. I found a H16 with trailer, newish sails (look brand new), harnesses, new rigging, carbon fiber tiller bar and tiller, toolkit, no bubbling, stored indoors. The tramp is made of canvas, something I haven't seen before. I thought they were all made of mesh. The price $1600 USD. Does that seem like a fair price? Thanks in advance, RR |

We have mesh and solid vinyl materials. If the seams are welded... it's a Hobie trampoline. |

It could be worth it if it was stored inside. Go over those hulls like the world is about to flood and that is how your going to stay dry. Take your time and don't look for whats good look for whats bad. I think $1600 is pricey unless that thing is mint and the title is held by the original owner. But I am cheap and stupid  If you do get it you will love it (if you don't already). |

Agreed, Check Hulls, as far as pricey, It depends on how willing you are to shop around but this time of year if its ready for the water and you want something now then it's a good price, Yes you can find them cheaper but if it's next year before you get it in the water then it defeats the purpose. yes it is possible to get ripped off on a boat but also understand that if you decide to upgrade and sell your boat you won't get what you have in it most times. if you accidently ruin a sail you can spend $1000 on new ones, also plan on after buying a used boat replacing all the rigging, even if it doesn't look like it needs it trust me it will give you peace of mind and you are only talking a couple hundred, all of that being said we don't buy these boats for an investment we buy them because we love sailing them, I've looked at alot of boats in recent weeks as I am upgrading from my 14 to something bigger and I know the Tramp you are talking about, it almost looks like a big piece of leather. Personally I like the mesh, especially when its hot out and the water is splashing through. there are plenty of people on these forums with way more experience then me, but these are some of my opinions, good luck and welcome to the community |
