This is different to my last setup, and it seems my jib sheet is too big to go through the eye hole on the block, hence the shackle. Other than perhaps the jib line diameter being too great, which it doesn't seem to be, does anyone have any thoughts on this? Is this a typical issue ![]() |

It's supposed to be 5/16" (or 8mm) in diameter. |

ummm... Do you have the bitter end of the jib sheet attached to that shackle, through the forward hole of the jib car, and tied off in a bowline? If so, I'd remove the shackle and simply dead end the sheet through that forward hole and put a stopper knot (figure eight) on the bottom side. This will allow a shorter stack up, i.e. you will be able to get the jib sheeted block-to-block. |

Take the end of the line, hold it over a lighter for a few seconds (OK if it catches fire, just blow it out). Once the end melts, roll it on a hard surface to give it a bit of a taper. You should be able to get the tip through the hole, then you can grab it with pliers and pull it through. |

If you still have trouble, you can remove the core from the first inch and reseal as suggested by Mbounds. When you tie off make sure the core is included in the knot (at least an inch up). ![]() |

That looks a bit too convoluted to be a good setup, IMHO. I'd go to a smaller line, you don't fuss with the jib travelers more than once a leg racing and less fun sailing |
