I know sail #'s are up over 110, 000 plus but many were produced for champ regattas etc as well. Do Europe etc make them too with their own sail # sequencing? Just a trivia curiosity question for those who may know. |

There have been approximately 75,000 Hobie 16s built. Nobody really knows for sure, though. Hobie Cat does not publish production numbers - and even they don't know exactly how many were built in the hey-days of the late '70s/ early '80s. Sail numbers are assigned in blocks - for example, Europe might be assigned 109000 - 109999, whereas HC USA would be assigned 110000 - 110999 - prior to the sails (note - not boats) being built. |

75,000 is a LOT of 16's! Strange there isn't an exact rolling count though. I just always assumed sail #'s was the sequential production for each type of Hobies. How bout another trivia question? About how many Hobie cats in total have been produced? Maybe 150,000? Curiosity kills the "Cat" ![]() Thanks btw |
