So, between reading tuning tips on mast raking and on here, I know that I'll get more mast rake with the new shrouds I just bought, they are about 3 inches longer than the older one.

My boat is apart and I'm not ready to put it together yet, I was just with wondering if with the new shorter shrouds, if I will be forced to do something with my double-stack old seaway main sheet block?

I've seen the poor man's way to convert the old Seaway block to a short block http://www.catsail.com/archives/v2-i8/tip57.htm

Will I need to do that for weekend family sailing? I do like to go fast with friends, but take it easy with family on board.

I have done the poor mans block conversion. Pretty simple mod. got it done before the first half of a Penn State game last fall. even with my 4 year old scattering the bearings across the room..... twice

Given it's easy and only cost a few nuts and bolts, I'm going to do it.
