The post from the lower block doesn't fit into the traveler deck plate on my '83 H16. I was told to just bend the top of the traveler to make it fit. Didn't seem like a bad idea at first, until i tried it. Seems like if i could open it up enough to fit, i would compromise the integrity of the deck plate. The hole in top of the traveler i measured at 3/16. The post coming from the lower harken block is 3/8 is that right? Can i just replace the deck plate on my old '83 with a current deck plate? Trying to get her upgraded and ready to go. Thanks

Or you could just put a clevis pin (or quick pin) in the traveler and use a small shackle on the block. Drilling out the track and replacing the traveler is rather involved and expensive fix IMO.

Grind down the post on the block a bit. I use a bench grinder and a pair of vice grips and grind a flat spot on each side of the hole. Doesn't take much.
