Post subject:  Is my comp tip toast?

I need some advice here. When I bought my boat it had 2 masts. One all aluminum. and one comp tip. The alum. One was strapped to the trailer to tight by the previous owner and he dented part of it. So this year I thought it would be nice to give the comp tip a try. However it has been left in the sun for who knows how long, and has faded on one side. It is also showing some minor cracks in various parts and has a noticeable warp in it in the comp tip section. The cracks are mostly at the head and the attachment to the alum. Portion. I have flexed the tip and the cracks don’t appear to grow or shrink with a moderate amount of force. My question is this ok for an old boat under recreational purposes in wind averaging 12 to 18 MPH or would it be better to go with the dented one for another year? Unfortunately the boat budget has run dry this year with all the other expenses. Any opinions or advice would be appreciated :D

Thank you

The CompTips are pretty tough. Maybe re-glue the joint and spray it with Vinyl paint.
