I thought the forum might be interested in this bit of news:

A friend called me this afternoon & told me about the rescue. We were planning to sail offshore this weekend in the same location. Glad these folks made it home safely.

Glad they are ok, cat may not be but oh well... That's replaceable. This does bring home the message of letting someone reliable on shore know of your plans for follow up in case of distress.

It really does show that the wind and the ocean is a furious beast when combined and if you turn your back on it even for a minute, think your better even for a minute, you could be in trouble in as quick as a minute.

I don't know their experience level but I do hope if nothing else they have learned a lesson and above all keep sailing.
