I have an '85 H16 and the comp tip leaks water at the interface between the comptip and the aluminum mast. I would like to pull it apart and reglue/epoxy it. Does the vang's rivets normally go through a part of the comp tip? Meaning do I need to drill them out before the tip will come off? Also, once apart, will I be able to fill the tip with water or submerge it to see if there are any cracks and holes in the tip itself? Thanks, Jerry |

The Tang rivets do go into the Comptip. I would not take it part, instead I would just seal the connection and hope that worked. We have used 5200 and always seems to fix that leak.
