Post subject:  Comp tip repair.

I have an '85 H16 and the comp tip leaks water at the interface between the comptip and the aluminum mast. I would like to pull it apart and reglue/epoxy it. Does the vang's rivets normally go through a part of the comp tip? Meaning do I need to drill them out before the tip will come off? Also, once apart, will I be able to fill the tip with water or submerge it to see if there are any cracks and holes in the tip itself? Thanks,
Jerry

The Tang rivets do go into the Comptip. I would not take it part, instead I would just seal the connection and hope that worked. We have used 5200 and always seems to fix that leak.

Thanks,
