I picked up a mesh one on ebay. How long should replacement take? What are the advantages and disadvantages of the mesh VS. solid tramp? Any recommendation as to how to make the replacemetn efficitent? Thanks! Lee |

I just swapped tramps on a boat I sold, it took just under 3hrs to install and lace a snug fit by myself. I like the mesh tramp, I think it lets air pass though when flying a hull rather than becoming another sail (from the bottom) to help push you over. Only down side, in my opinion, is it can be hard on the knees |

I bought a mesh tramp from ebay last year and installed it on my boat early last season. When I first installed the tramp I only used hand and arm strength to get it tight. It was fairly tight but seemed to get some stretch after a few times out. I tightened it up agian shortly after this time using a ratchet strap around the tramp frame to deflect the sides in a little. When I pulled the tramp lacings tight, tied them off and removed the ratchet strap the tramp was extremely tight. This also helped to stiffen up my boat significantly. Everything seemed to strecth just a little more and went through the process one more time and have not noticed any more stretch. If you use a ratchet strap be careful not to bend the side bars. I imagine it would also be possible to pull the grommets out of the tramp when you release the rachet strap. I guess this is an easy does it process. |

Thanks for the replies; I haven't started yet but should perhaps even next week. Still haven't done the hull leak test either although I purchased an electri air puum at Harbor Freight for the job. I didn't even think of replacing the grommets but the Tramp has no hiking straps currently and I'd like to have them available. |

Love the official hobie mesh tramp that I bought for my h16... worth the money! As for how long to install, it didn't take me very long at all. You have to spend some time tightening things up. |
