About 4 months ago I picked up this harken main traveler for cheep with the main shear blocks and all. I have the blocks installed now but the tracker that installed on my 83 hobie 16 isn't moving like she did when I picked her up last year. What im asking is that am I wasteing my time installing this thing and stick with factory parts or go for it. I have no ambition or raceing it due to aftermarket non class legal sails and tramp. I don't like the free sliding traveler track for sailing cats. The standard car has friction for a reason. With the Harken, if you sheet the main, often all that happens is the car pulls towards you. Especially a pain on a reach with the car set outboard a bit. |

Brass wheels car?... 96? You can get the rivet-on track and lower part of the car as parts to replace what you have. Likely... unless your car just outright sticks in the track on a gybe... not to worry. Leave it alone. |

Hey Matt, Not to hijack this thread (I'll gladly start another), but this is the first I've heard of a tendency for the car to stick on gybes. How prevalent is this? |

I know it wont work on the Ferrari it don't have enough bling. I was in a rush to get an answer before the weekend and that's where I keep my tools. |

If your not going to use that track and traveler on your 16 maybe it will fit my 21SE.I always want to extent my track and have windward sheeting too.Let me know. Bill 404 21SE

Old tracks get worn and dinged. Car axels get bent. Sand in the track... can stick the car a bit. New cars with the brass wheels (deeper track) have next to zero issues since introduction. |

Thanks Matt. I guess I've been lucky. I keep my boat pretty clean and brush out the tracks often. I'll take a closer look at the wheel axles since you mentioned it. |
