Anybody know why these brackets have been added to this H16 mast? It looks like brackets to hold diamond wires, although there is nothing near the bottom or top of the mast that would attach them. Also, why are the extra sets of rivets on the mast?

Come on, I know someone here must know what these are!

They aren't a Hobie part - at least not one I've ever seen.

My first guess would be they are for mounting running lights.

Are they on both sides of the mast? Could potentially be a bracket for spreaders I suppose. Is there any other hardware or modifications done to the boat that might suggest a modified sailplan was used?

The additional rivets are likely from relocating the brackets. The rivets are just there to fill the holes so the mast doesn't leak. If it were me, I'd remove them and plug the holes with (aluminum) rivets and silicone.

Yeah, there is a bracket on each side. No other modifications to the boat that I have noticed. I think I'll take your suggestion and remove them. Maybe they were for lights or something.
