My '81 H16 has a plain aluminum mast, but I see alot of black masts... Just curious, when did that change? Does it mean anything about the mast?

It means nothing about the masts - the black is just dye added to the anodizing process. The first black anodizing appeared in the early '70s as an additional cost option. It wasn't until the mid-'80s that it became standard. |
