So, maybe when I rise my mast up I place the shroud pin in hole #1 from down to up cos' I've heard or read that te shroud position is determinated(?) by the skipper + crew weight and we don't weight much. Less than a 130 kilos. But if i wanted a little more power would it be ok to place a little higher to get more rake?? Is this even the way to get more rake?? Does it even matter where you place the pin?? Thanks, I'm sorry if I sound like a newbie. I am a newbie. |

Placing the shroud in higher holes in the chainplates will lessen mast rake. If you are new to sailing the Hobie 16, I would not be very concerned with mast rake the first season. Just leave it somewhere in the middle. Just sail and enjoy the boat - get used to it's feel. |

Here's a go-by that I pulled off a tuning guide: <275lbs - Bottom hole of stay adjuster 275 - 294lbs - 2nd Bottom hole of stay adjuster 294 - 316lbs - 3rd Bottom hole of stay adjuster >319lbs - 4th Bottom hole of stay adjuster Of course it's just a go-to, you'll have to adjust to your skill, conditions and preferences, and the rest of your boat tuning (rudder rake mainly). |
