i have sailed a hobie 16 a couple of times and i am planning on doing like one or two regattas over the summer in them and was wondering if anybody had any important tips to keep in mind when sailing in light and heavy air |

There are hundreds of tips for sailing a Hobie. Read through this forum and you will probably already find what you are looking for. The best way for you to learn is to spend time on the water and, if you can, with a more experienced sailor. You will also find that Hobie sailors are very helpful at regattas and will be more than happy to offer any tips they can. We are a very friendly group. Welcome to the club! |

Weight forward Traveler 3" off center until you are double trapped, then center it. Put tell tales on the 2nd or third panel from the top of the main, 1/3 the way back from the mast. Sheet so that they stay trimmed. Adjust your rudder rake so that your rudders are as far forward as possible. Point when you have to, foot when you can. cheers Bill |
