I just bought this 1979 H16, and it had no mainsheet. So I've got my new 44 feet of mainsheet, but my block setup is different than in the manual. I've got a double pully setup on the lower that connects to the traveler car, and there's two single pullies handing from the boom. What goes where? The Hobie manual shows a block with three on top and bottom (6:1). Anyone know any good images on the web that show how this is supposed to look?? Thanks for any help in this. -jeff |

With the boat rigged (it's easier) start with the line going through the cleat. Then move to the block (pulley) on the boom and back to the block on the top of the one with the cleat, then back to the one on the boom and then tie it off on the becket when you run out of blocks (pulleys). Try not to cross the lines in a way that makes them rub together as this friction makes sheeting in or out slower and more difficult. |

Matt - he's really old school - two single blocks on the boom and the monster Seaway stack down below. I don't know how we ever sailed the boats with that set-up, but we did. There must be a foot and a half of clearance between the boom and the rear crossbar with that setup. 
With the modern block configuration, we've cut that down to less than 6". Lots more mast rake (pointing ability and more control in heavier air). |

Thanks Matt & eveyone. This help is fantatic. You guys are great! I'm learning so much from reading posts on this forum. Heck of a resource. This is so cool. My boat is 27 years old, I can still easily get parts for it, and find nice folks who are willing and able to help me when needed. -jeff |
