hello, i am about to set up my mast, but i heard that you need a tensioner....or you would have to know what hole on the stay adjuster to put the pin in. can someone post a detailed explaination about this? Please help me out :cry:
thanks....it seems like im never going to get out on the water

Not sure what you mean with tensioner... YOU are the tensioner. The hobie rig is pretty loose as long as the jib is missing. Forestay tension does not really play a role if you demast at the end of the day. It is the jib haulyard that creates the tension on the rig.
I would suggest to pop the pins in the middle of the chainplates at your shrouds and once the mast is stepped - just pin whatever hole on the forestay chainplate looks good to you - keep it loose in case you decide to pin lower on the shroud chainplate to create more mast rake.
If this is the first time you take the thing out - do not worry too much about mast rake - just get the mast up and go sailing.

If this is actually a Hobie 15, it is a Hobie Cat Europe product. You can download a manual from their website at http://www.hobie-cat.com

I will assume it is a similar setup to the Hobie 17 or 18.

Rig the boat with the shrouds in the middle of the plates. Step the mast and pin the forestay as low as possible. Hang from a trapeze wire on one side of the boat near the shroud or aft (easiest with two... one hanging [holding the mast up] and one adjusting the shroud position). Pull the mast over towards you. Adjust that shroud lower. Repeat on the other side till the rig is tight.
