Post subject:  front pylon depression

my hobie has formed a depression about 12 inches surounding and circling my front pylon on one hull. can this be fixed by the delam repair post in the facs section or do i have a more serious problem to adress?........thanks for any advice.....tom

YIKES !

That sounds bad. I guarantee it is not a "delamination fix" you are looking for.

Since I`ve not actually seen the kind of damage you are talking about, I am cautious to offer any more thoughts. I am sure someone who has actually seen this sort of thing will advise you.

Sounds a bit like the pylon is no longer attached to the inside of the hull. Check the following... While straped to the trailer lift the the boat on the corner casting of the pylon that shows those symtoms. If the depression goes away while you lift I would think that my assumption would be correct.
Take a pic and post it here.

You have punched the pylon through the bottom of the foot inside the hull.
You will have to cut port holes and epoxy it back together. There is another thread here somewhere that explains the details.

In general, If you have an older boat you should cut in the port holes to inspect the pylon. I would add some epoxy to strengthen the joint before it breaks free on the other hull.
