Starting to think about getting my Hobie ready for spring and noticed that the prior owner used only one tramp line running throughout the entire tramp (which is in 3 parts--the two sides and the rear), but most new tramps appear to come laced with 3 separate lines. I was able to tighten the existing lacing using the dowel approach suggested in the forum but wonder if I should get new tramp lacing in the lengths suggested by Hobie. Would having only one lace affect tramp tightness or put too much pressure on certain areas? |

Hobie 3-piece tramps have been laced with three separate lines since day one. I can't even envision how you would do the whole thing with just one long line, but I would think that getting it tight is near impossible that way. Use three separate lines. sm |

Thanks. My guess is that, not having owned or sailed a Hobie before last summer, I thought the tramp lacing was tight when it was actually pretty loose. I will switch to 3 separate lines. |

One line has been used by those with the best shoe lace tying ability in the first grade...start at the top, base of the mast and make sure both the bitter ends are of equal length, then start lacing, head port and starboard when you reach the stern cross member. |

rather than getting new lines, why don't you just cut the 1 line that you have into 3 pieces? It's already long enough since it now laces the entire tramp. The only reason I'd replace the line would be if it's degraded. |

Don't forget to double grommet the center section. |
