Yes I know another delam question started; sorry for the redundancy. Had a tree branch damage the hull this winter and just did the Git-Rot fix for the delam. However I noticed after a few hours of set up that not all the holes are filled to the top anymore (cure time 24hr). I have previously done the same repair with an epoxy resin and had the holes stay full the whole time (epoxy cure time was much faster 15min). Is this normal? I know it’s too late to fix it now as the Git-Rot has kicked off but I am concerned that I will be in for more fiberglass work if this doesn’t fix the issue. Anyone with experience with Git-Rot please let me know what you think (I know you’re out there). Thanks and sorry to belabor a common theme but searching turned up very little on this subject. Oh yeah the finer points for those that like details: Delam area about the size of an adult hand, approximately 1.5 feet from the bow and only on the top; used 3.5 ounces of Git-Rot and it was coming out of all holes when complete. |

I'm no expert, but I would try putting more git-rot in once the original has hardened. It is possible that you had some cracking on the bottom layer of glass but the git-rot filled it in and now it won't leak through any more. |

Little Wing, I sent you a PM and I may be interested. However after giving the repair some time and adding a bit of quick set epoxy I think I may have it fixed or at least serviceable. |

Most likely the epoxy/Gitrot seeped into the voids in fiberglass/foam sandwich (which is what it's supposed to do) or it seeped through the inner glass skin and dripped into the hull (the inner skin is pretty thin not necessarily air tight, so resin can seep through it). In any case, if the resin already cured, there isn't much you can do. You can fill in the divots at the drill holes, but that won't do anything to help re-laminate the skins. sm |

I put the git rot on ice it gives some added time before hardening I used to be Admiral Gary |
