Post subject: | Struggle to Pin Forestay |
Recently purchased a 1975 Hobie and am struggling every time I step the mast. I pinned my shrouds in the last hole on the extensions (creating the most slack) and I still can barely pin the forestay in its last hole. Is there another adjuster I am forgetting about? Is it possible the wrong shrouds or forestay are being used? |

You might have newer shrouds (short) with an older forestay (also short). Either add another adjuster to the front or buy a new forestay. |

Matt's correct. I had the same problem and called the dealer about it, and he said Hobie shortened the shroud length to give more rake to the mast, which in turn lowers the probability of a pitchpole while allowing the boat to point higher. Get a new forestay. |
