Post subject: | Pylon and hull deck interface |
I have a 1982 H16 and I just did a check for leaks and found that all 4 of my pylons are leaking at the interface between the pylon and the top of the fiberglass boot of the hull's deck. I guess I will just have to replace the caulking around the pylons. My main question is how were the pylons originally connected to the hull deck at the factory? Are the pylons actually fiberglassed to the deck or do they just pass through sleeves in the deck boots? ![]() |

The decks are made with the pylons glassed in.Just clean off the old silicone, wipe the area down with acetone and put a new bead of clear silicone around the pylon. It's what they do at the factory. |
