Post subject:  mast step worn

Looking at these photos do you think I could file the stops a bit more square and sail the Hobie for this summer and change both parts over the winter??
I am a rec. sailor and would hate to have the launching of this boat delayed any longer... I am in Vancouver Canada and had to order new rigging all the way from Toronto....

At $90 for a new mast step, I say file and sail.

Can any damage can occur with the mast rotating more than normal or is it just spilling off more wind???
