Post subject:  Traveler track variations?

I decided to move my ronstan jib travelers from the old boat to the slightly newer old boat tonight and they didn't fit the tracks . Both boats have the stainless tracks rivited on and the don't appear bent.

I know there were a couple different styles on the newer recessed tracks, but I thought all of the external tracks were the same? I'll probably just go buy some rivets and swap the tracks, does anyone know what size they are and if they need the casings?

3/16" countersunk, no casings (the front crossbar is not watertight).

Thanks Matt. I'm guessing that they need to be 1/4" long?

1/4" is pretty short. The rivet tail needs to extend beyond the materials being attached so the mandrel can make it "balloon" before it pops off.

It doesn't hurt to have longer rivets in there. I'd go with 3/8" at least.

Just be aware that using a rivet that is too long for an application can cause the rivet to POP before it gets proper tension on the parts being attached together. The friction of the mandrel head pulling through a long rivet weakens the "blind setting" prematurely.

fyi... I didn't even know what that "blind setting" part of the mandrel was called till I looked it up on Wiki! It is a reduced diameter right between the mandrel and head that breaks at a pre-determined setting.
