Post subject:  Mast stability when mooring

When I have my boat anchored and it takes waves the mast swings violently from side to side. I know that the mast is designed to do this when sailing it seems rather bad for the boat it makes me nervous plus when Im sitting on the shore it sucks to hear it violently spinning back and forth. Any tips on this or is it just gonna happen. THANKS

if it is just mast rotation that concernes you - just rotate the mast to one side and fix it there with a line. Actually I assume that it is not the mast rotation alone that bothers you - It is probably the very loose rigg due to the fact that the jib is not attached.
Use an extra line to extend the jib haulyard and tension the rig by useing the haulyard - that should limit the bouncing around of the mast.

...and mooring is just hard on the boat. We do not recommend it. Cats do not sit well at anchor.
