I am looking to buy an h16 that is supposed to be an 87 model. My sister describes the hulls as light brown. I thought that color was abandoned a decade before. The last 3 of the HIN are 878, black pylons.

Mocha / brown hulls came with the "Keoke" sail pattern, sold in the late '70s.

A lighter colored tan was used on some of the late '80s boats - I think the "Tidal Wave" pattern (#98 on the chart) used those hulls. They're more a cafe au lait color.

This would indicate a 1978 Hull.

Note, Matt: We have an '85 with Tidal Wave sails and that light color hull which was described to me by a friend as "champagne" as he recalled the option from ordering an H14 with Tidal Wave new back in the day.

But then the boat would not have black castings, tramp frame. The original sails work with an 87 model as well.

Champagne was the color I was thinking of - just couldn't remember the name.

And Bacho's right - a '70s boat would not have 878 as the last three characters.

"878" might even be "87B" in the poor handwriting of the engraving tool.
