My H16 is from 1987 in great shape but doesnt have the new stuff. I am doing homework on it and figuring out whats the best way to do stuff now that Im upgrading gear. My jib cam cleats are fixed to the cross member with the jib sheets going thru the traveler car. The cars are controlled by lance cleats. The issue is that if I want to change the angle on the sheet after sheet is set I will have to adjust the traveler car with its control line, but having the cam cleat fixed to the cross member and the sheet line going thru the traveler it will also change the pull on the sheet... as I adjust the traveler, having to the re-set the sheet. If I had the cam cleat on the traveler (like new hobies) the sheet pull will always remain the same as I move the traveler car in or out... Right? Any pros/cons to setups? Bought my h16 three weeks ago and havent sailed it yet,,,want to fix it up nice first, but that is the guess I have of what will happen with the current jib setup. |

Nope - the jib cars move in a straing line, so they get closer and farther from the jib as they move. This is why the self-tacker on the Tiger is curved - it always stays the same distance from the jib. Anywhere the jib cleats are mounted, you will have to adjust when you move the jib cars. |

Ok so with both setups: 1. fixed cam cleats to cross member or 2. cam cleats in car I will still have to adjust the sheet if I move the car? Then what is the benefit of the new setup (cleat in car)? Any pics of how the traveler control lines are rigged in the cross member?? thanks!!! |

Thanks!!!! the diagrams drawing shows the jib setup I have... will rig it the same but with new blocks cleats etc. And will have the main traveler separate from the sheet as well. thanks! |
