My H16 has holes in the trap where once were hiking straps. Any advice on replacing these straps? |

I have the same problem, I'm thinking it will be easier to do this winter when I take the tramp off. Do you need some kind of industrial sewing machine to put them on? |

The older tramp always loose there hiking straps. Before you go to great lengths to re attach them make sure the rest of the tramp is in good shape, nothing worse that having good hiking straps and everything else is dry rotted. We put grommets in to hold the new straps on, be sure to put a twist in the strap like the new boats, makes them much more user friendly!!! |

Do you take the tramp off every winter or just "this winter"? |

Just got the boat this summer so I plan on taking it off each winter since I have to keep it outside. |

Pardon my dumb question, but wouldn't it be easier to cover the tramp rather than remove it? I plan to get a UV tarp with some bungees and cover mine every winter. Do most people take their tramps off every winter? |

I also need to repair my old tramp, straps are gone and corners have some tears. Will consider fixing to last till the end of the year as I dont have the $$ for a new one. Anyone has a close up pic of corners and straps of the new hobie tramps??? Thanks! |

I bought some excellent quality2 inch nylon webbing from Bass Pro shops in Springfield Missouri. I then cut a rectangle of extra webbing for each of the points where it will be sewn on the tramp , these go on the underside of the tramp where it is sewn. Cut the length of the strap about two feet longer than the tramp, started at one end and then sewed it on with only a couple of stitches, I put a twist in the strap between each of the points where it gets sewn on. I then ran a couple of stitches of thread, ( a type not affected by uv), by hand to hold it in place,--make sure you have a few inches of space between the tramp and the hiking strap, it is better to have too much space instead of not enough and notable to get your foot under the strap. I then I took my tramp off and took it to a local shop that did automoble upolstery and boat covers and had them do all the final sewing. If possible have them do the stitch in the original pattern- take a look at some other boats , it is strongest- Or you could take thae tramp to the upolstry shop and have them do it all. Mine cost about 30.00 to have them sew the straps on. John I sketched out a diagram, but I don't know how to attach it. |

Do original hobie tramps have any logo?... Im reparing mine but dont know if its hobie brand... The one that was given to me with the h16 doenst have any markings showing its original stuff... thanks! |
